The Empty Chair

A wooden desk with a lamp, flowers, and pens stands before a wall featuring a framed portrait and vertical blinds.

As you enter Sullivan Bros. Mortuary, you will notice a wooden desk with an empty chair. Back in 1988, Rev. Warren H. Sullivan, Sr., purchased this hand carved desk for use at the mortuary. In 1989 after over a year of waiting it finally arrived for use. Upon its arrival, Rev. Sullivan health had started to decline and he was never able to sit at this desk. Since the desk has arrived at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary it has remained a valuable symbol of our business. It remains empty for the representation of all the loved ones lost who can not be replaced in our life. As they transition from here on Earth, their legacy is left behind. Time will not replace our loss or heal our empty hearts. So this empty chair at this desk represent each and every family who has lost a loved one, "Life is but a vapor, appearing for a short time and slowly fading away; but, memories last a life time not only in our hearts but in our minds!"
