She was born on July 30, 1937, in Greenville County, South Carolina, to the late President (Prease/Bud) Rice and Johnnie Bell Bobo Rice. Wilma's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her faith and community.
Wilma found solace and purpose as a devoted member of Maple Creek Baptist Church. She faithfully served in the Missionary ministry and was an integral part of the senior choir until her health started to decline. Wilma's commitment to her church and her compassion for others left a lasting impact on all those she encountered.
Wilma experienced profound losses in her life, as she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Culbertson, her daughter, Patricia Elaine Rice Jones, and her son-in-law, Seymour Jones. She also mourned the passing of her brothers: John Daniel Rice, George Edward Rice Sr., and Linder L. Rice, as well as her sisters, Mary Edna Rice Bates and Anenice Rice Brockman. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
Wilma's legacy lives on through her cherished grandson, Rakiem (Dana Lee) Jones, who was a source of joy and pride in her life. She adored her great-granddaughters, Olivia Elaine Jones, Amelia Sanaã Jones, and Ava Jones, all residing in Hampton, Georgia.
Wilma's siblings, Marvin Rice and Cleo (Michael) Rice of Greer, SC, carry the torch of family bonds. In addition, her sisters, Grace Walton of Dayton, Ohio, Yolanda Rice (Robert) Frazier, Vanessa Rice, Barbara Rice (Bernard) Fowler, and Kelly Rice (Gerald) Williams, all from Greer, SC, will forever treasure the memories they shared with Wilma.
Wilma also leaves behind a vast network of nieces, nephews, and a multitude of other relatives and friends, all of whom were touched by her kind and compassionate spirit.
