Mauldin, South Carolina

Mr. Walter Robert Greer, Sr., husband of Karen Greer, son of the late Garlin C. and Lillian D. Greer, passed Monday, May 15, 2023.

He was a Sunday School teacher for Jubilee Baptist Church iN Taylors, SC for 15 years before transferring his membership to Bethlehem Baptist Church. There he served as an usher.  "Walt" as he was affectionately known, was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School, where he lettered in football and basketball.  In his spare time, he loved RVing with his New Horizon RV family, traveling, watching his Clemson Tigers and his Pittsburgh Steelers "Sixburg" win, and loving and spending time with his family!  Always ready for a political debate!

Left to cherish fond and loving memories of Mr. Greer, along with his loving wife Karen Greer of over 38 years are his children, Kiva (Larry) McCrary of Greer, SC, Charley Greer Barksdale of Fountain Inn, SC, Walter R. (Jennifer) Greer, Jr., of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Marques B. Greer of Greenville, SC; a brother, Rodger (Catherine) Greer of Taylors, SC; a sister Shirley Fulton of Greenville, SC; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Tyrone Hill and his siblings, Sharon Middleton, Azalea Harris, Frankie Whiteside and Donald Greer.

Funeral service will be Saturday, May 20, 2023, 1:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church with military honors service.  Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.  Public viewing will be Friday, May 19, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary.
