Obituary

Moore, South Carolina

Mr. Robert Earl Hunter Jr., 60, was a man whose presence could never go unnoticed. Full of life, laughter, and a spirit that filled every room, he brought joy to everyone around him. His laughter was loud, genuine, and contagious—once you heard it, you felt it. Robert had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and loved, often giving the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

Robert was a proud graduate of Greer High School, Class of 1984, where he developed a lifelong love for his “Yellow Jackets.” That pride remained with him throughout the years, as he always represented where he came from with enthusiasm and heart.

Robert was a retired military veteran who faithfully served his country for 26 years in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. His commitment, discipline, and strength were evident not only in his service, but in the way he lived his life each day. He was also a proud member of the VFW in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Robert was a faithful servant of God and a devoted leader in his community. He served as the Associate Pastor of Agape House in Greer, South Carolina, where he poured into the lives of many through his ministry, wisdom, and compassion. In addition, he was the proud president of the quartet group Men’s of Favor of Lyman, South Carolina. Through music and fellowship, he uplifted spirits and brought people closer together, using his voice and leadership to inspire others.

Robert was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Eula Mae Hunter, with whom he shared 31 beautiful years of marriage. Family was at the center of his heart. Though he was a dad to none, he was truly a father to many—guiding, mentoring, protecting, and loving others as his own. Those he loved and embraced as his own include Taurus Jones of Greer, South Carolina; Lucica (Troyce) Samples of Greer, South Carolina; Willie (Shakeita) Kershaw of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and Shatoria Ballenger of Woodruff, South Carolina. He was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He found his greatest joy in bringing loved ones together, always desiring unity, laughter, and connection among those he cherished. He was a loving son to his parents, Robert Earl Hunter Sr. and Bobbie Jean Hunter, and was raised in the loving home of his late grandmother, Elzie Watson, whose influence helped shape the man he became.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his four siblings: Ronald (Valarie) Hunter of Simpsonville, South Carolina; Edward (Cassandra) Hunter of Lyman, South Carolina; Dorthy Hunter of Greer, South Carolina; and Marcus Hunter of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Allie Joe Kershaw of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Johana Kershaw of Anderson, South Carolina; and one brother-in-law, Moses (Vanessa) Kershaw of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

He leaves behind two special nieces, Shannon “Coco” Goodman and Jalice Harris; two special nephews, Rondrick (Melissa) Goodman and Zabraylon Richardson; special friends, Sabrina Daniels, Shawn Williams, and Charles (Connie) Goodman; special cousins, Oliver (Sherian) Smith Sr. and Kenneth (Robin) Murray Jr.; and his beloved cousin and best friend, Rodney Agnew.

Robert was also a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, faithfully supporting his team with enthusiasm and pride. His vibrant personality, love for life, and unmistakable presence made him someone you simply could not forget.

On April 28, 2026, Robert transitioned from this life due to an illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and joy. Though he is no longer with us physically, the impact he made will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
