Spartanburg, South Carolina
Mr. Nathaniel Robinson, widower of Doris Robinson, son of the late Roosevelt and Mary W. Robinson, passed January 23, 2021.
He was a member of Mt. Zion World Outreach. He never met a stranger and positively impacted the lives of everyone he met. His bright smile and amazing laugh were both caring and contagious. It was impossible to meet his acquaintance without being changed for the better. Even though he lived for nearly a century, he exhibited the sort of energy and vigor only possessed by most in their youth. Known affectionately as Pop, Poppa, or Deacon Robinson, his heart was that of pure gold, and his daring dance moves were quite impressive. He was dedicated and fully determined to serve Jesus Christ, his family, and the Spartanburg community that he loved so much. After his wife passed away on December ,10 2005 , he spent much of his free time helping others, oftentimes driving other seniors around to run errands and handle business matters. His prayers were powerful, and his hugs were that of strength and sustenance for those who were down. Mr. Robinson started the first African-American owned exterminating company in Spartanburg, Budget Exterminating. He received the living legends award in Greenville County and was instrumental in mentoring many young entrepreneurs over the years.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are his children, Barbara R. (Andre') Wells, Melvin (Vickey) Robinson and Israel (Jill) Robinson all of Duncan, SC, Rebecca R. (Thomas) Weeks of Monroe, GA, Apostle Nathan (JoAnn) Robinson of Wellford, SC, Randy Robinson, Dale Robinson and Roosevelt Robinson all of Spartanburg, SC, Christopher (Vanessa) Robinson of Moore, SC; a brother, Willie James Robinson of Charlotte, NC; 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren along with a host of other family and friends.
