Mrs. Myrtle Irby Stroble, formerly of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Myrtle was the daughter of the late Lester and Pricilla Philson Irby of Spartanburg, SC.
As a daughter of one of the founders of the Greater Hopewell Baptist Church, she joined at an early age and served faithfully until health declined. She was Treasurer of the Hopewell Missionary, a member of the Pulpit Aid and loved working with Girl Scouts.
In 1942 she was joined in marriage to the late Virnell Stroble and was blessed with three daughters. Myrtle attended school in Spartanburg, County. Retired from the Spartanburg District 5 she worked at Duncan Elementary in the school cafeteria. Myrtle was a hard worker, loved helping and giving to others in her own quiet way. She loved bowling. She received several trophies while bowling with the Traveler's Rest Baptist Church bowling team. She also loved to travel.
She loved reading and studying the bible. She would always sing hymn's while writing her notes. Her favorite song was "Yield Not to Temptation." She was a very humble person, and would always say "treat everybody as you want them to treat you." Myrtle truly lived a life that will be pleasing to the lord.
She leaves to cherish with fond and loving memories two daughters, Elnora (James) Williams of Spartanburg, SC, and Almetia Stroble of Duncan, SC; three grandchildren, Stephanie Williams (Dominic) Peterson of Spartanburg, SC, Tiffany (Randre) McCray of Fayetteville, NC, and Cynthia Williams, of Greer, SC; seven great grandchildren, Kiyshun, Tamiya, Tayvon, Ky'mani, Malik, Harmony, and Tiana: and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Ann Stroble; two sisters, Veola (Heron) Wright, Beatrice (Louis) Collins; and two brothers, Falus (Viola) and Perry (Mahalia) Irby.
