Deacon Melvin Beachum, widower of Louise Y. Beachum, son of the late Matt L. and Mary J. Beachum was peacefully summoned home on October 27, 2021.
Deacon Beachum was a retired U. S. Army Veteran with over 20 years of service. He served in the Viet-Nam War and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. Past active duty, he served in the Woodruff Army Reserve Unit. He joined Mayfield Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. He was a Deacon and faithful member of Mayfield Chapel Baptist Church. In church he also served as a Sunday School Teacher for the Adult Men's Class, a member of the Board of Trustee's. He graduated from Florence Chapel High School. He retired from West Port Holmes Fashion.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are his sisters, Nannie Thompson, Lydia Davis, Emma Scott and Brenda Wright all of Duncan, SC; grandson Bryan Norton of Spartanburg, SC; five great grandchildren; aunt Leitha Jones of Fayetteville, GA; uncle John Sledge of Greer, SC; along with a host of other family and friends.
Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son Randy Moore; sisters, Billy J. Ballenger and Gwendolyn Riser; brothers, Douglas Beachum and Marvin Beachum.
Funeral service will be Saturday, November 6, 2021 1:00PM at Mayfield Chapel Baptist church with burial in the church cemetery. Military rites will be performed at the beginning of the service Saturday. Viewing will take place in the viewing window on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM.
Mask are required to be worn at the church for the service. For safety and protection of yourself and others, please wear your mask to the service.
