Deacon Mannie Lee Hines, husband of Mary Hines, passed Saturday, March 24, 2018. He was the son of the late Ellen Joseph and the late Elijah Hines.

He was a member of Greater Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, an active member of Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible Study. Most of all his ministry was being a servant for Christ and for those he loved. Deacon Mannie retired from the town of Brookhaven Highway Department. His achievements was a substitute teacher in Spartanburg District 5 Schools for about six years, 1st Vice President CSEA Suffolk County, NY, and President of Gordon Heights Fire Department. His favorites hobbies were cooking, sports, spending time with his family especially grandson, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, four daughters, Yolanda H. Shobe (Tim) of Waynesfield, Ohio, Debby Tippins in Brooklyn, NY, Saundra Barnes of Las Vegas, NV and Elisha Colay of Bellefontaine, Ohio; three sons, Clayton J. Bryant, Sr. (Alecia) of Columbia, SC, Joseph Chaplain and Christopher Benson both of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Deloris Glover (Earl) of Brooklyn, NY; a brother, Gillen Hines (Virginia) of Yonkers, NY; two grandsons, Brandon Corns (Amber) of Dunbar, WV and Clayton J. Bryant, Jr. of Duncan, SC; a special daughter-in-law, Barbara A. Bryant of Duncan, SC, four sister-in-laws, Bessie Jones (Jessie) of Newbern, AL, Pat Harber of Birmingham, AL, Barbara Braxton of Huntsville, AL, Betty Braxton and Ethel Mayes both of Bessemer, AL; a brother-in-law, Tommy Braxton (Debra); twenty grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by two daughters, Celeste Hines and Tina Bryant; two sister, Ella Mae Davis and Pearl Joseph; a brother, Elijah Hines.

Funeral Service will be held at Greater Hopewell Baptist Church, Startex, SC on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 12:00pm with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Greer, SC.

The family will receive friends at the home.
