Mamie Jay Cohen, widow of Colie Cohen, Jr., daughter of the late Watson and Cora W. Tutt passed Monday, September 6, 2021 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
Mamie Jay was a member of Greater Hopewell Baptist Church and served on the Deaconess Board. She was known for having a deep passion for loving her church family, welcoming new church members and interacting with the Pastor, Deacons and Deaconess.
Before retiring, she worked with Greenville Hospital System for over 35 years in the Patient Care and Dietary Departments. During this time, she developed a deep connection for serving and helping others.
Thanks be to GOD! Mamie Jay discovered Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during her lifetime. Her faith, trust and belief in GOD blessed her with 84 years of life. 61 years, of that time, was with the love of her life, the late Colie Cohen, Jr. Mamie Jay and Colie became known as the couple one because they always traveled and did everything together.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are sons, Steve (Kamaka) Cohen of Inman, SC, Colie Junior Cohen of Greenville, SC and daughter Teresa (Sidney) Ferguson of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Steven L. Cohen in the Military, Caleb E. Cohen of Greenville, SC, Arielle N. Ferguson of Spartanburg, SC, Bryson Lloyd of Mauldin, SC, Lindsay Foster of Wellford, SC, Kendra and Danielle Ferguson of Garner, NC, Jasmine Miller, Dominique Miller and Monica Miller all of Charlotte, NC nine great grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends.
In addition to her husband Colie and parents Watson and Cora, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Alicia D. Cohen, brothers Watson Tutt, Jr. and Marvin Tutt.
Funeral service will be Sunday, September 12, 2021 2:30 PM at Westwood Memorial Gardens. Mask are required to be worn covering mouth and nose. Limited seating please bring a chair if not able to stand for extended periods of time. Viewing will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM in the viewing window of Sullivan Bros. Mortuary.
