Mrs. Linda Sexton Hawkins transcended from Labor to rest on Friday, April 14,at her home
. She was a native of Greer, SC and currently resided in Alpharetta, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Clarence David Sexton and the late Nellie Brooks Sexton. She was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School, Taylors SC.
She was of the Baptist Faith and attended Roswell Assembly Church in Roswell, Georgia. She was retired from General Electric after over 25 years of service. She was recently employed with Kroger Inc. in Alpharetta, Georgia.
She is survived by three sons, Maurice (Sandra) of Reidville SC, Michael (Ruby Jean) of Boiling Springs, SC and Craig L. Hawkins of Alpharetta, Georgia, one daughter, Kristi Nicole Ford of Cummings, Georgia, three brothers, Clarence "Brother"Sexton of Greer, SC, Freddie (Kat) Sexton of Taylors, SC, and Conway (Ruth) Sexton of Greer, SC. , three sisters, Pamela Hunt of Lyman SC, Carol Hunter of Spartanburg, SC and Gloria Jean Sexton of Greenville SC., and one nephew reared in the home Rev. Howard Louis Sexton (Venita) of Spartanburg, SC. 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Sexton and Diane Kelch, one brother, Paul Gary Sexton, and one grandchild, Antonio Edwards.
Receiving of friends will be Tuesday, April 18 from 6 to 7 and a Memorial Service will begin immediately after at the Greater Hopewell Baptist Church, Startex, SC. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 19 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Greer SC. Rev. Howard Sexton will officiate. In lieu of flowers please make charitable donations to the charity of your choice in her memory.
The family is at the home of her son, Maurice Hawkins, 455 Old Leonard Rd, Woodruff, SC.
