Leroy Bernard Ferguson of 105 Goodwin Dr., Taylors, SC, sometimes referred to as Big Time or Bernie, was the son of the late Roy Ferguson and Mary Jackson Ferguson. He was born on December 4, 1946 in Greenville County, but always resided in Taylors, SC.
He departed this earthly life at home on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the youthful age of 69. Bernard loved the Lord and knew His Word. He joined Jubilee Baptist Church at an early age where he sang on the choir, joined the usher's ministry and served as a trustee. He was educated in Greenville County Schools, graduating from Lincoln High School class of 1964. He also graduated from Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill, SC in 1966. There he met the love of his life (Diana) and they were married in 1972. To this union was born a beautiful daughter (Rasheena) who grew to be the center and joy of their life. He was a proud father and loved every minute of fatherhood. Bernard was a devoted son, husband and father.
He was a Boyscout and early in life he enjoyed fishing and hunting, but later in life he began motorcycle riding, bowling and golf became his passion. His weekly bowling team was known as the Hawks.
He retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) in 1999 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed his work and made many friends during those years. Those who knew Bernard would probably say he was a gentleman with character, intelligence, integrity, witty, loved laughter and having fun. He loved life because of his love and compassion for people.
Those left to cherish fond memories are his wife Diana O. Ferguson of 43 years, his daughter Rasheena Ferguson of the home; one sister Martha (J.W./Doug) Ferguson Gregory of Lyman, SC; five sister-in-laws Betty O. Huskey of York, SC, Majorie O. Clark, Brenda O. Thomas, Barbara O. Byers of Gastonia, NC, Marian O. Smith of Moore, SC; three brother-in-laws Melvin (Lisa) Orr of Rock Hill, SC, Kenneth (April) Orr of Clover, SC and Lamar (Angela) Orr of York, SC; cousin Robert Lowry reared in the home; along with a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister Norma Jean Ferguson Fennell.
