Deacon John H. Carson, Jr., husband of Alyene W. Carson, son of the late John H. and Edith L. Ballenger Carson, Sr., passed Friday, February 5, 2021.

He was a Deacon and member of New Salem Baptist Church Service; President of the Brotherhood, Past President of the Gospel Choir, Chairman of the Program Committee for Pastor's Anniversary, Chairman of the Grave Yard; Finance Secretary and Treasure, Past President of the Ushers, Secretary of the Deacons; on the building committee, member of AZAH # 140, Shriner Temple, Piedmont Consistory # 169, A.A.S.R Moore's Chapel # 180, Past Worthy Patron, Prince Hall Eureka Lodge #59 past Worshipful Master, member of the Charles F. Gandy V.F.W. Post # 6734, Past Adjutant K.W.V.A "Korean War Veteran Association where he served as the Chaplin. He was a retired truck driver for Winn Dixie.  He was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School.

Mr. Carson legacy lives on in the lives left behind including his wife Alyene Carson for over 27 years; his children, Angela (Tony) Gray of Taylors, SC, Nikki (Terry) Simmons of Greer, SC and John H. (Machelle) Carson, III of Easley, SC; siblings Cynthia Ferguson, Dorothy King, Timothy (Sharron) Carson all of Taylors, SC, Richard Carson of Greer, SC, Molly (Lawrence) Kearney of Fayetteville, NC; one grandson reared in the home, Nigel Simmons, six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother Paul Carson.

Funeral service with military honors will take place on Thursday, February 11, 2021 1:00PM at New Salem Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Prior to service, friends of the family can walk in, view Mr. Carson and wave at the family in love in support from 12:00 Noon until 12:45PM.  Viewing will take place on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 3:00PM until 7:00PM in the viewing window of Sullivan Bros. Mortuary.
