Deacon Jefferson "Jeff" Ballenger, husband of Anna Mildred C. Ballenger, son of the late James H. "Bub" and Elle Lucille M. Ballenger, passed Friday, May 10, 2024.
He was the oldest Deacon and member of New Salem Baptist Church. He was the past Chairman of the Deacon Ministry; past Superintendent (30years), past President of the Senior Choir, past church Treasure, past member of the Pastor's Search Committee and Past President of the Superintendents' Forum of Enoree River, North Enoree and Reedy River Associations. He was formerly employed with Roadway Trucking.
Mr. Ballenger is an United States Army Veteran
Past Master Ballenger, was a member of Prince Hall Eureka Lodge #59 and Past Master of Mountain Grove Lodge # 307. Past Special Deputy of District 3. He was a member of Prince Hall Order of the Eastern Star Moore's Chapter # 180. Past Commander-N-Chief and Grand Inspector Grand of Piedmont Consistory # 169 A.AS.R. He was a member of Azah Shirne Temple # 140.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories of Deacon Ballenger, along with his wife Mildred of over 67 years, include his sons, Tony W. (Pearlene) Ballenger and Jeffery (Marlene) Ballenger both of Greer, SC; sister, Mary B. (Bubba) Griffin; along with a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Larry Donald Ballenger; siblings Selena B. Higgins, Edith Carson, Ola Paden, Lizzie Beeks, Helen Ballenger, Lois B. Carson, Catherine Ballenger, Haskell Ballenger, Willie Ballenger, Earl Ballenger, Roy Ballenger and Ernest Ballenger.
Visitation service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, starting at 5:00 PM at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Chapel with Honorable Rites services beginning at 6:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, 12:00 Noon New Salem Baptist Church with military honors burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
