Janice Lee Plowman McVeigh of Greenville, South Carolina, formerly of Hamilton, Illinois passed away Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina.

Janice was born April 3rd, 1937, in Carthage, Illinois to Hugh and Ruth (Wagstaff) Plowman. On June 12, 1955, she married Ronald Merritt. They later divorced. On April 2nd, 1988 she married Robert "Skip" McVeigh. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2004.

Janice was a housekeeper for many years cleaning many houses and businesses in Hancock County, Illinois. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo, watching the St. Louis cardinals and feeding/watching the birds.

Survivors include her five children, Theresa (Eric) Clark, Judy (Keith) Daudt, Larry (Brenda Johnson) Merritt, Lori (Chris) Dickinson, Brad (Tammy) Merritt; 3 stepchildren Kerry Bell, Scott McVeigh, and Chris McVeigh; 12 grandchildren, Dustin (Michelle) Monnier, Nicole (Jason) Wright, Kelsey (Scott Watson) Cook, Joel (Danielle) Johnson, Katie (A.J.) Mast, Luke Merritt, Clayton Merritt, Brice Dickinson, Haley (Kati) Foster, Makenna Merritt, Keegan Merritt, Ethan Merritt; 10 step grandchildren Tom (Liz) Bell, Mike (Leslie) Bell, Robb (Jessica) Bell, Tim Bell, Tyler McVeigh, Kaley (Jeremy) Buckert, Dakota (Joel) Robinson, Kyle Bowman, Andrew (Pricilla Belman) McVeigh, Casey McVeigh; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild on the way; 22 step great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren; 2 siblings Karen Pierce and Raymond Plowman, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Billy, Gary "Boomer", Curt, Darlos Rampley, Betty Belville, Marjorie Heisler, and Carrie Fleming; a son-in-law Paul Monnier; and a step son-in-law Bryan Bell.

Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Sullivan Brothers Mortuary, Inc. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 3rd, 2025, at 11:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Illinois. A meal will follow at the Basco Community Center in Basco, Illinois.

The McVeigh family is being cared for by Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Inc. and Cremation Centers of South Carolina, LLC.
