Mr. James J. Wingo, husband of the late Shirley A. Mills, son of the late Claude Thompson and the late Dorothy Wingo, passed Thursday, April 23, 2026.  

He was a member of New Trinity Baptist Church, where he was an usher.  During his spare time, he enjoyed model cars and racing.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories of James include his children; daughter, Towana (Dwan) Wingo of Spartanburg, SC; sons, Timothy Foster and James McClain both of Spartanburg, SC; stepson, Dino Mills of Anderson, SC; stepdaughter, Shardin Mills of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Ashley Wingo, Jeremy Granson-Wingo, both of Spartanburg, SC and Jessica Jeter; 13 great grands; two brothers June (Mary Alice) Wingo of Wellford, SC and Arthur Risen of Spartanburg, SC; along with a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred Byrd, Lesco Wingo, Geneva Wingo and Johnny Wingo.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, 12:00 Noon at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Chapel with public viewing to take place prior starting at 9:00AM until 12:00 Noon.
