Lyman, SC

James Petty, husband of Mary Petty, son of the late Wallace and Janie Nell P. Carter, passed Saturday, June 13, 2020 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.

He was a member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Former employee of Spartan and Inman Mills as a loom technician.  In his spare time he enjoyed landscaping, watching western movies and watching his Dallas Cowboys play football.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories of Mr. Petty along with his wife Mary for over 49 years are his sons, Wesley Montgomery of Spartanburg, SC; Stanford (Dominik) Petty of Piedmont, SC and Lisa Petty of Lyman, SC; along with the family dog Sugar; as well as a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by hi sister Margaret Ann Carter and brother Sewary Petty, Sr.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 11:00 AM at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, picnic shed, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Please keep in mind during this time we are still under the order of social distancing and we ask all persons in attendance please wear face coverings during this time.  If unable to stand for long periods of time, please bring a lawn chair.
