Mr. James E. Fulton, Sr., husband of Shirley Fulton, son of the late James and Viola J. Fulton, Sr., and proud United States Army Veteran, passed Saturday, October 31, 2020 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Fulton was born on February 2, 1938 in Kernersville, NC. He was the youngest of 7 children. After graduating Carver High School (Winston-Salem, NC) in 1957, Mr. Fulton enlisted in the United States Army, served for 20 years and attained the rank of Sergeant. He proudly served in the Vietnam War and was recognized as a war hero for his selfless acts of service. After his completion of military service, Mr. Fulton, worked until his retirement. He took pride in working and was well-liked by many of his co-workers. He loved watching sports and westerns and traveling. He was also an avid UNC Tarheel and Washington Redskins fan. Mr. Fulton rarely met a stranger and was known for his kind heart and ability to story-tell.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories of Mr. Fulton along with his wife Shirley of 54 years are his children, Deborah (Roosevelt) Downs, James E. (Tina) Fulton, Jr., both from Greer, SC and Dameka Aiken of Greenville, SC; nine grandchildren, Antonio Downs, Lakia Downs, Ratysha Downs, Kamaria Downs, Brett Fulton, Jared Fulton, Qamar Fulton, Kelkcee Fulton and Azariah Fulton; five great-grandchildren, Zakiyah Downs, Ryann Whiteside, Marley Whiteside, Zuri Goldsmith and Brennon Elmore; siblings, Maxine Johnson and William Fulton; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Fulton was preceded in death by step-mother, Mary Katherine Fulton; siblings, Ralph Fulton, James O. Fulton, Kizzie Rose Fulton, and Margaret Fulton.

Funeral service will be Friday, November 6, 2020 12:00 Noon at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Inc. with burial in the Greenville Memorial Gardens.  Mr. Fulton will be available for window viewing on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 3:00PM until 7:00PM.  Please keep the Fulton family in your prayers.
