Helen M. Drummond, widow of Deacon James Wallace Drummond, daughter of the late Garvin and Estella B. Mills, Sr., was born on October 11, 1920 in Spartanburg County and on Monday, November  18, 2019 she went home to be with the Lord.

"Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." Proverbs 31:31

She received her education in the public schools of Greenville County.  At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Personal Savior and joined Bethel United Methodist Church where she served faithfully as a member of the United Methodist Women and the Usher Board.  In 2011, she was named "Mother of the Church", a title she held until her demise.

She was employed by Tryon Street Elementary School (Greenville County School System) as Head Cook for more than twenty years.  She was a faithful member of the Sunnyside Flower Club.

She was a humble, faithful servant who loved the Lord and constantly gave Him the praise for everything.  Family was very important to her.  Her wise counsel to her children and other family members helped to shape our lives in many ways.

Helping others was also important to her.  Her love and compassion for "people" were manifested throughout her life.  She never ceased in her efforts to benefit mankind.

She was joined in holy matrimony in 1939 to the love her life James Wallace Drummond, for more than 72 years until he passed and to this union eight children was born.  Left to cherish fond and loving memories are her beloved children; three daughters, Helen Moore of Greer, SC, Judy D. (Rev. Francis) Covington of Goose Creek, SC and Brenda K. Drummond of Lyman, SC; four sons, James L. (Ruth) Drummond and Thomas E. (Betty) Drummond both of Greer, SC, Wallace L. Drummond of Washington, D. C., and Alvin Drummond of Augusta, GA; 29 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; three devoted brothers, Garvin Mills Jr., of Greer, SC Samuel Mills of Newark, NJ and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son Austin L. Drummond and siblings, Thomas, Jason, JD, James and Leroy Mills.

Funeral service will be Saturday, November 23, 2019 2:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.  Visitation service will take place on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 6:00PM until 7:00PM at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary.
