She attended New Bethel and Woodruff High schools and received an associate degree from Rutledge College.  Hazel loved spending time with family, reading, and watching sports, especially her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, SC Gamecocks, and women college softball.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, Sammy Lee Thompson, a son, Anthony Jerome Poole, a brother, Leroy "Joe" Poole, and a sister, Juanita Scott.

Left to cherish fond memories are three sons, Corey (Stephanie) Poole of Williamston, SC, Sidney (Regina) Poole of Roebuck, SC, and Joe Lee (Taiwanna) Rice of Myrtle Beach, SC.  A daughter in-law, Regenia Poole of Spartanburg, SC.

Two brothers, James (Gwendolyn) Poole of Berea, SC, and Bobby (Ruth) Poole of Orange Park, FL.  Two sisters, Lorene Parks of Laurel, MD, and Carolyn (Jim) Poole of Woodruff, SC.

Seven grandsons, Deangelo, James, Nicholai, Jazon, Edwin, Hunter and Jamichael, and ten granddaughters, Keiahnna, Brittney, Eboni, Trinka, CaSonya, Carmen, Essence, Tatiana, Jasmine, and Jameesha.  13 Great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and two great-great-grandnieces, Alisha and Corrinne that affectionally, called her, "Grandma Hazeer."

The Family will receive friends at the home on Thursday, May 11, 2023, and Friday, May 12, 2023 from 3 PM to 7PM each day.  A viewing will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church prior to the funeral, from 10:30AM until hour of service.

Homegoing celebration services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 12 PM at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 190 Bill Roberson Rd, Enoree, SC, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
