Obituary

Columbia, South Carolina (Formerly of Greer, South Carolina)

Earnestine (Teen) Housey-Mims departed her earthly life on August 24, 2022, at the hospital.  Preceded in death by her parents James Emanuel Housey and Hattie Cohen. Brothers Darrell Housey, Calvin Housey and James Housey.
Earnestine attended Lincoln High School in Taylors, SC.  Few years later she married Edward C. Mims of Greenville and with that union they had one daughter also devoted son n law she adored.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church while living in Greer.  During her union with Edward, she joined Lowndes Hill Baptist Church in Greenville until she moved to Columbia.  In Columbia, she attended Kingdon of Zion Ministries under Rev. Oliver Massey.
Her favorite restaurant was Texas Roadhouse or any place that had fried fish to serve with a good glass of tea. Earnestine loved jewelry and nice clothing she worked a few years at Echols dress shop in Pleasantburg shopping Ctr Greenville, SC.  During her spare time, she enjoyed taking a ride anywhere.  Last Employment was at Furman University as a custodian.
She leaves surviving one daughter, Melody Mims-Wise (Dean); sisters, Juanita H. Goodwin of Columbia SC, Carolyn Housey of Estill. SC, Virginia Russell of Estill SC, Mary Lee Ruth of Harrisburg, PA, Starleen Housey Estill. SC, Christine H. Aiken (Isiah) Estill, SC; one brother, Ernest Housey of Glen Bernie. MD; one granddaughter, Carmelita D. Wise of Columbia, special little grand Monica Brunson also niece Thereasa Wyatt she adored.  Best friends Betty Jo Jones and Onnie Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, 1:00 PM at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Greer.  Viewing will be held prior to the service, starting at 12:00 Noon lasting until 12:45PM.
