Duncan, South Carolina

Courtney D. McClintock, daughter of the late Henry L. and Dorothy A. Downs, passed Thursday, December 7, 2023.

She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.  A 1976 graduate of James. F. Byrnes High School and after high school, she was employed with Spartanburg County District 5 School System.  In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, vacationing, cooking, shopping and meeting new people.  She never met a stranger.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories include her children, Laqueta McClintock of Greer, SC, James McClintock, Jamesia Downs and Shequila Downs all of Duncan, SC; siblings, Annie Neal of Woodruff, SC and Benny Lee (Angela) Downs ad Terry Brannon both of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Chidairiah Kennedy of Greer, SC, TyCorien Gist, Jakari Young and Ja'Quevion Young all of Duncan, SC; aunt, Mary of Duncan, SC; uncles, Azon (Talmadge) Downs of Spartanburg, SC, Golden "Bubba" Rector, Jr. of Greer, SC and Jerry (Mary) Brooks, of Lyman, SC; nephews, Ryland A. Neal of Woodruff, SC and Corey (Sharlese) Cheeks of Spartanburg, SC; niece, Latonia Y. Neal of Lyman, SC; along with a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Golden and Vincie Lee Brooks Rector and Azon Bub and Dora Lee Garrett Downs, Sr.; niece Charnette Neal; aunts, Catherine Payden, Mamie Downs, Carrie Lee Hull, Essie Mae Toler, Margaret Gilmore, Margie Foster, Ophelia Boyd and Carrie Mayfield; uncles, Roosevelt Downs, Sr., Joe Louis Downs, Sr., Rev. George Downs, Sr., Ostell Downs, Raymond Sullivan, Vernon Payden, Sr.; Cousins, April Downs, Gloria Downs Elrod and Roosevelt Downs, Jr.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 16, 2023, 1:00 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.  Public viewing Friday, December 15, 2023, 2:00 PM until 6:00PM at the mortuary.
