Duncan, SC

Deacon Cornelius "Neil" Davis, husband of Lydia Beachum Davis for over 58 years, son of the late McLaurin and Nettie Rice Davis, passed May 25, 2019 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.

As a member of Mayfield Chapel Baptist Church, he served as past Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School teacher of the Men's class # 10, church bus and van driver, church custodian and grounds keeper and treasury of the church Benevolent fund.  He was known to his church family as "Papa Neil". Graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1956 Retired truck driver for Community Cash Groceries. Prince Hall Masonic past Worshipful Master and member of Robert Small Lodge # 133.  In his spare time, he enjoyed travelling and vacationing, attending sporting events; especially James F. Byrnes High School and Clemson University football.

Surviving along with his wife; son Frederick Cornelius Davis of the home; two grandchildren, Taurean Davis of Atlanta, GA and Porscha Davis of Boiling Springs, SC; great granddaughter, Gloria Maria Davis of Atlanta, GA; precious god son, TraVas Cohen of Greer, SC;  five sisters, Nettie Sue Davis-Millsap of Spartanburg, SC, Hattie (Richard) Davis of Spartanburg, SC, Mary (Rev. J. B) Davis-Robinson of Spartanburg, SC, Ella Ruth (John) Davis-Ferguson of Moore, SC and Rebecca (Lewis) Davis Jeter of Albany, GA; special friend of the family Maurice Copeland of Inman, SC; along with a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Gloria Annette Davis, sister Edna Davis and brothers George Arthur Davis and McLaurin Davis, Jr.

Funeral service Thursday, May 30, 2019 2:00PM at Mayfield Chapel Baptist Church burial in church cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, May 29, 2019 6:00-7:00PM at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary.
