Greer, South Carolina

Mr. Bobby J. Gaffney, widower of Annie Jean Gaffney, son of the late Cornelius and Christine Gaffney, passed Sunday, October 18, 2026.

He was a member of Maple Creek Missionary Baptist Church.  He graduated from Florence Chapel High School, class of 1954.  After high school, he attended Denmark Tech.  Once he graduated from Denmark Technical College, he moved to Washington, DC and began an accounting career; as well as a cab driver. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family, watching sports, especially golf and reading books and magazines.

He leaves behind a legacy that will forever cherish his memories; including his children, Kenneth Gaffney of Greer, SC, Jewel (James) Dillard of Taylors, SC, Robbie Gaffney McIntyre of Greer, SC and Shunette (Billy) Gaffney McBee of Greer; his grandchildren, Candace Gaffney of Taylors, SC, Kamaria Moss of Taylors, SC, Jerrick (Jessica) Gaffney of Spartanburg, SC, Karman Gaffney of High Point, NC, Tomasha (Montreal) Thomas of Lyman, SC, Medai Foster of Greer, SC, Araina Gaffney of Greer, SC and Jamie Dillard of Greenville, SC; great grandchildren, Jaxon Gaffney of Spartanburg, SC and Taytum Gibson of Greer, SC; a sister, Mirrian Ann Gaffney Lindsay; one brother, Opal Huff; along with a host of other family and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jeffery Gaffney.

Graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, with burial. Please bring lawn chair for additional seating.  Public viewing will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 5:00PM at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary.
