Ms. Betty J. Bomar, daughter of the late Andrew and Vera Bomar entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 17, 2020, from complications of Parkinson's Disease; after three years of living and experiencing excellent care from the staff and care givers at Manning Place in Greer, SC. Betty was a sweet, kind, loving, giving, patient person who loved everyone.
Betty graduated from Florence Chapel High School, class of 1962. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Tuskegee Institute, in Alabama, and taught home economics in middle schools in Ohio and Austin, Texas. She loved to sew and made beautiful clothing, drapery and other items for people. She was an active member of Sweet Home Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. She returned home to South Carolina in 2003, where she became a devoted member at New Faith Baptist Church, singing on the choir and teaching VBS.
Left to cherish her loving memory is one brother, Mr. Curtis (Faye) Bomar of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Ms. Mary Alice Bomar of Lyman, SC, Mrs. Helen B. (Lillywood) Dillard of Columbia, SC and Mrs. Doris (Dr. Kenneth) Peake of Lyman, SC; nieces, Ms. Norma Johnson of Lyman, SC, Ms. Cynthia Johnson of Moore, SC, Mrs. Denia B. (Al) Brown of Wellford, SC, Mrs. Lola (James) McBeth of Enoree, SC, Ms. Trina Dillard of Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Jasmine (Arty) Evans of Columbia, SC, Ms. Jernay P. Ford of Columbia, SC; nephews, Mr. Gregory Bomar of Walterboro, SC, Mr. Randy (Joann) Bomar of Spartanburg, SC, Mr. Jackie (Elizabeth) Bomar of Wellford, SC, Mr. Odis Bomar, Jr. of Wellford, SC, Mr. Courtney Bomar of Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Curtis Lamar (Valarie) Smith of Austin, Texas, Mr. Jebryl Dillard of Columbia, SC, Mr. Avery (Dr. Bridgette) Peake of Atlanta, GA and a host of other grand nieces, grand nephews, relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her two brothers: Mr. John Wesley Bomar (Melissa-deceased) of Walterboro, SC, Rev. Odis (Dorothy-deceased) Bomar of Wellford, SC; two sisters, Mrs. Cuba B. (Oscar) Dantzler deceased and Ms. Mable Bomar of Wellford, SC. Nieces, Ms. Veronica Bomar of Walterboro, SC, Ms. Cicely Bomar of Austin, Texas and Mrs. Joyce D. (Vernon-deceased) Smith of Lyman, SC; nephews, Misters Andrew, Marvin and Jerome Bomar all of Walterboro, SC.
Ms. Bomar will be available in the viewing window on Monday, April 20, 2020 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. Burial will take place in New Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.
