Barbara Ann Spicer's Life Story

Barbara Ann Spicer was born on July 23, 1946, to the late Malissie Robinson and Irving Robinson Sr.  in Spartanburg South Carolina.

She departed this earthly life on Saturday November 18, 2023, at Mary Black Hospital with her family at her bed side. She proceeds in death her parents Malissie and Irving Sr, her two brothers Irving Jr and Jerry and her younger sister Mable Jean.

She received Christ at an early age and attended church with her mother and siblings. As her Christian Faith matured Barbara held many positions in the church but her love of children led her to teach Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Barbara happily served under the leadership of Bishop Allen Bruton of New Hope Baptist Church, as an affiliate of the Senior's Program and weekly Saturday phone line Ministry.

Barabara's love for teaching did not end there but extended to the public and private educational sector from NYC to South Carolina, where she taught early childhood education and students with disabilities. Barbara poured her heart and soul into teaching, and the beautification of her classroom with the littlest of resources. She always said, " one man's trash is another man's treasures", and that trash never looked the same.

Barbara's love for teaching fostered her academic development, which then led her to attend Kingsboro College, Baruch College, and New York University where she developed her craft and received many accolades.

During this time Barbara's love of design and creativity launched her into the fashion world where she modeled all across NYC with several talented fashion models and wore the clothes of some of the most prestigious designers.

Barbara loved life and traveled all over the country with her family. She especially enjoyed driving to visit longtime friends with her sister Marion. The family began to call them "Thelma and Louise" as they accrued mileage on the speedometer. If you saw one, you'd see the other, even at their monthly nail appointment.

Family was very important to Barbara, as she was the Matriarch. She prayed for them, loved them and held them all to a high standard.

Barbara leaves to cherish her four loving children, Elder Cheryl Murray - Johnson of Brooklyn NY, Sandra Spicer of Inman Sc, Dexter Murray of NYC, and Lakeya Spicer - Lynch of Boiling Springs SC, (Lothario Lynch). Twelve grandchildren, Clarence, Odell, Prince, Olympia, Quiana, Tiesha, Justin, Niesha, Jaeden, Jeremy, Misahir, and Carter and five great grandchildren, Malachi, Elias, Zoey, Mason, Serenity and Milani; sister Marion Duckett (Sonny Duckett) of Lyman SC as her only living sibling; as well as host of Nieces and nephews along with a host of church family, and friends.

Funeral service has been set for Friday, December 8, 2023, 1:00 PM, New Hope Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
