Greer, South Carolina

Mr. Alvin Henry Gregory "Fat", husband of Mamie "Mickey" Dawkins, son of the late John Wesley and Grace Gregory, passed Sunday, December 6, 2020.

He became a member of Maple Creek Missionary Baptist Church, at an early age.  Graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1961.  After graduating high school he attended Friendship Jr. College.  During his high school and college years he was an outstanding football player.  In the Greer community he was also an outstanding business owner, owning both Metra's Dress and Accessories Shop and Gregory Package Store.  In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, sports and fishing.

His legacy lives on in the lives of those left behind including his wife Mamie Dawkins, his children, Fred Dawkins, Walter Dawkins, Amazia Dawkins, James Dawkins, Gabe Dawkins, Alvin Dawkins and Maurice Dawkins all of Greer, South Carolina; his 10 grandchildren; his siblings, Margarett G. Turner, James "Doug" (Martha) Gregory, Everett (Thomascene) Gregory and Robert (Valarie) Gregory along with a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister Lillie Mae Wilkes and a brother Johnny M. Gregory.

Graveside service will be Friday, December 11, 2020 12:00 Noon at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Viewing will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 3:00 PM until 7:00PM in the viewing window and Thursday, December 10 from 10:00AM until 5:00Pm of Sullivan Bros. Mortuary.
