Carolyn Elizabeth Hawkins Jones, was born on Saturday, June 5, 1954 in Spartanburg Memorial Hospital to Annie P. Hawkins and the late Henry Bradford Hawkins. On Tuesday, June 14, 2011 she departed her earthly life.

She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. An employee with MCI for over 10 years and a former employee with General Battery in Greer, South Carolina. Carolyn was a graduate from Greer High School class of 1974 and won Ms. Greer Pageant in 1973. After high school she attended Greenville and Spartanburg Technical Colleges. She studied ministry. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She loved to write and sing.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories along with her mother are three sons; Charles L. (Travius) Hawkins, Jr. of Greenville, SC, Bradley O. Hawkins of PA, and Jerry L. Jones, Jr. of GA, three sisters; Deborah (Morris) Mosley of PA, Trudy Hawkins and Kathy Hawkins both of Taylors, SC; one brother Charles Anderson of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren; seven nieces; five nephews along with a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother Larry Anderson

Deacon James Wallace Drummond, husband of Helen Mills Drummond, son of the late Walter and Estelle Drummond was born on December 9, 1919 in Greer, South Carolina. On Saturday, June 11, 2011 he went home to be with the Lord.

He was an humble, faithful servant who loved the Lord with all his heart. Family was very important to him. One of his primary concerns was his beloved wife, Helen Mills Drummond, with whom he joined in matrimony in 1939. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, firm but fair, great provider and a great role model.

Always a smiling face and willing to help others. During hurricane Katrina he drove people who were effected to safety.

He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was retired from the Winn-Dixie Warehouse as a Forklift Operator.

On Saturday, April 2, 2011, Mr. Heyward Pearson, Sr. passed into a “new life” at Magnolia Place in Greenville, South Carolina.

Heyward was born in Spartanburg County in a small town call “Steve Town” which was own by his grandfather “Grandpa Steve” to the late Elder and Bessie Cannon Pearson on Tuesday, August 11, 1931. He was the widower of Stella Mae Ballenger Pearson.

Heyward was of nondenominational faith. He worked many years for Ashemore Bros., Greenville Steel and Northwood Middle School. He possessed a great love for playing checkers and going to Gospel Singings, but most important he was a devoted and loving father, brother, grandfather and friend.

His memories will be forever cherished by five daughters, Darlene Pearson Snoddy of Taylors, SC, Doris Pearson (Avery) Pruitt, of Mauldin, SC, Lena Pearson (Benjamin) Wilson of Fountain Inn, SC, Linda Pearson Martin of Greer, SC and Patricia Pearson (Willie) Glenn of Fountain Inn, SC; three sons, Heyward Pearson, Jr. And James (Stacie) Pearson both of Greer, Sc, and Shannon (Brandy) Pearson of Duncan, SC; a twin sister, Hazel Pearson Smith of Gaffney, SC; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC. He was a Radio Announcer for WORD, WSPA, Light Rock 98.9 better known as Ted Love and was employed by TNT Corporation before his health declined. Ted served in the US Air Force.

Timothy Jerry O'onald, 49, of 102 A Forest Park Drive, slipped the surly bonds of earth only to touch the face of God, Tuesday, February 8, 2011.

Born in Pickens County, a son of Lynda Faye Baker O'Donald and the late L. Jerry "Pete" O'Donald of Easley. Tim was a 1980 graduate of Easley High School. He is survived by his wife Crystal Elaine O' Donald.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two sons Ely O'Donald of Pickens, and Brandon O'Donald of Easley; two brothers Greg O'Donald of Fountain Inn, Blake O'Donald of Easley, Grandmother Martha O'Donald of Easley, and a stepmother Cheryl O'Donald of Easley. Tim also had a close knit group of friends, that he considered as his family. There too numerous to name, but you know who you are.

Yvonne "Donnie" Wood Sherman of 201 Bent Creek Drive passed on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was born in Greenville County to the late Cecil and Vera Daniel Wood, Sr. She was the widow of Theodore “Felt Sherman.

She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church an a Cosmetologist.

Left to cherish her memories two sons, Lamar (Sherise) Sherman of Atlanta, Georgia, Sidney (Karen) Sherman of Savannah, Ga; a god son, Rodney “Van” (Gwendolyn) of Greenville, SC; five sisters, Vermal Moore of Jacksonville, Fla., Katherleen W. Thomas and Patricia Robinson both of Greer, SC, Teresa Paden of Taylors, SC and Marilyn Fuller of Forsyth, Ga; a brother, Patrick Wood of Taylors, SC; two grandchildren, Blair and Cara Sherman.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 1:00pm Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel UMC Cemetery.

Cecil Wood, Jr. passed on Monday, January 31, 2011 at Prince George’s Hospital in Maryland, He was born Greenville County to the late Cecil and Vera Daniel Wood, Sr.

He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Greer, SC and united himself with New Commandment Baptist Church in Washington, DC. He was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant and a life long Painter.

His memories will be cherished by two daughters, Delice Renay Wood of Cleveland, Ohio and Charlene Vanessa Jimerson of Greenville, South Carolina; a goddaughter, Angle Love of Washington, DC; five sisters, Vermal Moore of Jacksonville, Florida, Katherleen W. Thomas and Patricia Robinson both of Greer, South Carolina, Teresa Paden of Taylors, South Carolina and Marilyn Fuller of Forsyth, Georgia; a brother, Patrick Wood of Taylors, South Carolina.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 1:00pm Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel UMC Cemetery.

Mr. Joe “Ray” Henry Styles, 59, husband of Mrs. Brenda Murphy Styles, was born on Tuesday, October 30, 1951in Spartanburg County, South Carolina to the late Joe Henry and Lillie Inez Smith Styles. On Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at his home God took one of his angels from the garden.

He was a member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Ray worked at Springs Mills before the plant closed. He was a Baseball and Football coach for 27 years for Greer Recreational Department. He was a passionate fan for the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories along with his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Tabatha (Cedric) Styles-Dendy of Greer, South Carolina; three sons, Ricky (Tiffney) McKinney, Timothy (Sharese) Styles and Derrick (Denise) Styles all of Greer, South Carolina; two sisters, Mary Parks and Martha Bussey both of Greer, South Carolina; a brother, Benard (Roberta) Styles of Greer, South Carolina; ten grandchildren, three of them reared in the home, Tyrickus, Tobe and Kayloupe Styles and one great grandchild and a host of other nieces, nephews family and friends.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Dennis, Katherine Styles and Sally Palmer.

Member of New Trinity Baptist Church where she sang on the inspirational choir and she was the church finance clerk. Former employee with Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Co and Tadpole Restaurant in Greer, SC.

Member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church. She was a licensed Cosmetologist and Hair Stylist and worked at Fiber Industries for many years.

Surviving along with her husband, two daughter, Minister Phyllis Darlene (Michael) Byers of Gastonia, NC and Judge Gwendlyne Smalls of Columbis, SC; a son, Antron Demetrius Young of Duncan, SC; three sisters, Mary Alice Cohen of Greer, SC, JoAnn (Isaac) Anderson of Wellford, SC and Clara (A. J.) Johnson of Woodruff, SC; two brothers, Robert Burnett of  Carrollton, VA. and Leroy Burnett of Greer, SC; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 26, 2010, at 12 noon at Greater Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in Westwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Wanda Kay Glenn Dixon of 354 Honor Rd. passed on January 9, 2011 at Village Hospital. She was the daughter of Mr. Elbert Meredith, Jr. and the late Mrs. Joeann C. Meredith, wife of Mr. Bernard Dixon. Educated in the Spartanburg County School System.

She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Wanda was an Assistant Manager of Wal-mart in Taylors, South Carolina before her health declined.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sisters, Teresa Oglesby  and Tracy Young both of Greenville, SC, Keisha Switzer of Spartanburg, SC; two brothers, Elbert (Teresa)  Meredith and Randy Meredith both of Greenville, SC. and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011, at 1pm at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Chapel in Greer with Reverend Steve Watson officiating. Interment will be in Walkers Chapel Presbyterian Church.

Minister Betty Ann Moore of 109 Greenleaf Drive passed on January 1, 2011 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ruby Harrison Moore. Educated in the Greenville County School System; received her Associates Degree from American Baptist College (Martin Web College). She was a Foster Parent for 25 years.

Minister Moore was of Baptist faith. She was a former member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Nurse, the founder of Children of Joy Choir, founder and past President of the Inspirational Choir.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sisters, Alice Moore, Diane (Nathan) Rosemond and Linda Foster all of Greer, SC; five brothers, Leroy Landrum of Cleveland, OH, Robert Earl (Ruby) Moore and Bobby Lee Moore both of Greer, SC, Roy Lee Moore of Duncan, SC and Anthony (Dollie) Moore of Spartanburg, SC; two aunts, Mary Moore of Greer, SC and Annie Harrison of Spartanburg, SC; a niece reared in the home, Isis Smith and two foster children, Shantilla and Antonio Sanders; a grandson, Navarron Littlejohn; a godchild, Andrela Wilson; special friends, Rev.
