Elizabeth Hawkins Jones, was born on Saturday, June 5, 1954 in Spartanburg
Memorial Hospital to Annie P. Hawkins and the late Henry Bradford Hawkins.
On Tuesday, June 14, 2011 she departed her earthly life.
She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. An employee with MCI for
over 10 years and a former employee with General Battery in Greer, South
Carolina. Carolyn was a graduate from Greer High School class of 1974 and
won Ms. Greer Pageant in 1973. After high school she attended Greenville and
Spartanburg Technical Colleges. She studied ministry. She was a dedicated
mother and grandmother. She loved to write and sing.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories along with her mother are three
sons; Charles L. (Travius) Hawkins, Jr. of Greenville, SC, Bradley O.
Hawkins of PA, and Jerry L. Jones, Jr. of GA, three sisters; Deborah
(Morris) Mosley of PA, Trudy Hawkins and Kathy Hawkins both of Taylors, SC;
one brother Charles Anderson of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren; seven
nieces; five nephews along with a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother Larry Anderson
Wallace Drummond, husband of Helen Mills Drummond, son of the late Walter
and Estelle Drummond was born on December 9, 1919 in Greer, South Carolina.
On Saturday, June 11, 2011 he went home to be with the Lord.
He was an humble, faithful servant who loved the Lord with all his heart.
Family was very important to him. One of his primary concerns was his
beloved wife, Helen Mills Drummond, with whom he joined in matrimony in
1939. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, firm but fair, great
provider and a great role model.

April 2, 2011, Mr. Heyward Pearson, Sr. passed into a “new life” at Magnolia
Place in Greenville, South Carolina.
Heyward was born in Spartanburg County in a small town call “Steve Town”
which was own by his grandfather “Grandpa Steve” to the late Elder and
Bessie Cannon Pearson on Tuesday, August 11, 1931. He was the widower of
Stella Mae Ballenger Pearson.
Heyward was of nondenominational faith. He worked many years for Ashemore
Bros., Greenville Steel and Northwood Middle School. He possessed a great
love for playing checkers and going to Gospel Singings, but most important
he was a devoted and loving father, brother, grandfather and friend.

Maxton Kerns, wife of Donnie Kerns, daughter of Columbus (Edna) Robinson and
the late Mable Maxton Reid passed Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Spartanburg
Regional Medical Center.
Member of New Trinity Baptist Church where she sang on the inspirational
choir and she was the church finance clerk. Former employee with Liberty
Mutual Life Insurance Co and Tadpole Restaurant in Greer, SC.
Surviving along with her husband are: Daughters: Indeya Maxton and Samatha
Kerns both of Spartanburg, SC; Sons: Jaylen Maxton and Donny Kerns both of
Spartanburg, SC; Sisters: Janice Maxton of Duncan, SC, Mildred Chambers and
April Reid of Wellford, SC, Sandra Robinson of Atlanta, GA, Kim McAbee,
Anita McMillian, Jackie Wilburn all of Spartanburg, SC and Sinnie Bell
Wright of Delaware; Brothers: Phil Reid of Lyman, SC and Columbus Robinson
of Atlanta, GA; 7 Grandchildren including Da'Nijah McClintock reared in the

Burnett Young, wife of Dr. Andy Young, daughter of the late Cecil and Lillie
Bell Gilliam Burnett, passed Monday, November 22, 2010.
Member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church. She was a licensed
Cosmetologist and Hair Stylist and worked at Fiber Industries for many
Surviving along with her husband, two daughter, Minister Phyllis
Darlene (Michael) Byers of Gastonia, NC and Judge Gwendlyne Smalls of
Columbis, SC; a son, Antron Demetrius Young of Duncan, SC; three
sisters, Mary Alice Cohen of Greer, SC, JoAnn (Isaac) Anderson of
Wellford, SC and Clara (A. J.) Johnson of Woodruff, SC; two brothers,
Robert Burnett of Carrollton, VA. and Leroy Burnett of Greer, SC; six
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday,
November 26, 2010,
at 12 noon at
Greater Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in Westwood Memorial
Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Kay Glenn Dixon of 354 Honor Rd. passed on January 9, 2011 at Village
Hospital. She was the daughter of Mr. Elbert Meredith, Jr. and the late Mrs.
Joeann C. Meredith, wife of Mr. Bernard Dixon. Educated in the Spartanburg
County School System.
She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Wanda was an Assistant
Manager of Wal-mart in Taylors, South Carolina before her health declined.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sisters, Teresa Oglesby and Tracy
Young both of Greenville, SC, Keisha Switzer of Spartanburg, SC; two
brothers, Elbert (Teresa) Meredith and Randy Meredith both of Greenville,
SC. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011, at 1pm at
Sullivan Bros. Mortuary Chapel in Greer with Reverend Steve Watson
officiating. Interment will be in Walkers Chapel Presbyterian Church.
Ann Moore of 109 Greenleaf Drive passed on
January 1, 2011 at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ruby Harrison Moore. Educated in
the Greenville County School System; received her Associates Degree from
American Baptist College (Martin Web College). She was a Foster Parent for 25
Minister Moore was of Baptist faith. She was a former member of Cedar Grove
Baptist Church where she served as a Nurse, the founder of Children of Joy
Choir, founder and past President of the Inspirational Choir.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sisters, Alice Moore, Diane (Nathan)
Rosemond and Linda Foster all of Greer, SC; five brothers, Leroy Landrum of
Cleveland, OH, Robert Earl (Ruby) Moore and Bobby Lee Moore both of Greer, SC,
Roy Lee Moore of Duncan, SC and Anthony (Dollie) Moore of Spartanburg, SC; two
aunts, Mary Moore of Greer, SC and Annie Harrison of Spartanburg, SC; a niece
reared in the home, Isis Smith and two foster children, Shantilla and Antonio
Sanders; a grandson, Navarron Littlejohn; a godchild, Andrela Wilson; special
friends, Rev. Wallace Wilkins and Martha Nesbitt and a special nephew, Jarvis L.
Foster and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday,
January 6, 2011, at
2pm at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Greer, SC with burial in Wood Memorial
Park. Public viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
